To incentivize academic excellence in our high school aged reenactors, we have a scholarship fund to aide our young historians’ college aspirations.
It is with great pride that the NCWA announces Savanna Mae Leckembey as the recipient of the 2015 Donald K Manns Memorial Scholarship. In making its decision the Scholarship Committee acknowledged Ms. Leckembey’s academic excellence, her passion for history, and her important contributions in service to the National Civil War Association.
The NCWA offers one, annual, merit based scholarship of $500 to a deserving NCWA member attending or matriculating to any accredited post-secondary college or university. Applications are taken in the summer, with determinations made in August.
The Scholarship is funded in part by a generous donation made by Donald K Manns. Mr. Manns, a lifelong supporter of American Civil War History Education and Historical Site preservation, kindly left the National Civil Association in his will. The monies donated were used to create an endowment which covers most of the cost of the Scholarship. Individual donations and fundraising events at events cover the rest of the cost.
