As a 501c3 non-profit corporation, all donations to the NCWA are tax deductible.
The National Civil War Association is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 educational non-profit California corporation, dedicated to “Keeping history alive by living it!”TM . Since our founding in 1983, we have commemorated the American Civil War with living history and reenactments, educating the public about this event’s role in shaping modern America and California.
Our ability to pursue this goal is made possible by the tireless efforts of the reenactor-member-volunteers that make up our organization, as well as the essential public support of non-members who believe in our mission.
Donations to the NCWA may be directed to:

Here are some of the many ways that you can help the NCWA in fulfilling its mission of making the lessons of the Civil War relevant to the people of modern California.
General Fund Donations
As an all-volunteer non-profit we manage to make a lot happen on a modest $15,000-a-year budget. General donations are greatly appreciated and help us cover insurance (our largest expense), storage for our equipment, web hosting, postage, printing, program costs, and the other everyday needs of operating a 501(c)3.
Cannon Powder Fund
Every time a cannon is fired, you are watching $5 to $10 worth of black powder literally go up in smoke. Our generous cannon crews pay for the powder out of their pockets, but we try to offer “cannon bounties” to help offset the cost of transport and operation. Please help us keep the BOOM in our events with a generous donation!
Cavalry Fund
Our four-legged reenactors need support too: the horses and their riders spend many hours training and preparing for our events to ensure the horses are safe for combat. Add to that the time and expense of caring for a horse and the dedication of our cavalry members quickly becomes apparent. Money from the Cavalry Fund goes to help offset care and transportation costs, which for a horse can be quite a lot.
Endowment Fund
The National Civil War Association is seeking to start an endowment fund that would produce passive income for the organization, providing a stable base of funding for our organization in perpetuity. Please help us ensure that future generations of Americans and Californians can learn about history through direct experience: if you would like to contribute to the creation of the NCWA endowment fund, please contact us.
In-Kind Donations
You can donate certain, needed goods and professional services to the NCWA.
Items such as working audio equipment, period reproduction clothing and kit, office supplies, muskets, airline miles, and more are needed by the NCWA, with your donation of goods being a tax deduction at the fair market value of the items furnished to our organization.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, we can offer tax deductions to corporations for donations of services. We are particularly in need of the following services:
• Accounting/bookkeeping
• Web design and hosting
• Marketing
• Graphic design services
If your company offers grants or other forms of support we could apply for, let us know and we will be happy to apply!
